Trifleet Leasing trains employees on safety

Although employees of a leasing company such as Trifleet are less exposed to safety risks compared to our depot partners, we our proud to announce we have just finished training a large part of our staff from various disciplines.
Our people make Trifleet who and where we are today. Our global team is the embodiment of Trifleet’s company goals. We strive towards sustainable excellence in everything they do and always take that extra step to deliver the best. Together we are creating a safer and more sustainable global supply chain. As a GATX company, Trifleet is championing the well-being of our employees and communities.
Tank containers play a vital role in the global transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids, gases, and powders. These containers, widely used in industries such as chemicals, food, and fuel, have seen increased regulatory scrutiny due to the potential dangers they pose if not handled safely. Over recent years, significant improvements have been made in safety regulations concerning the handling, operation, and maintenance of tank containers, with a focus on preventing accidents and ensuring worker protection.
One of the critical safety concerns is the risk associated with entering tank containers for inspection, maintenance, or cleaning. Confined spaces within these containers pose hazards such as oxygen deficiency, exposure to harmful substances, and the risk of explosion. Regulatory bodies have responded by mandating stricter procedures for confined space entry. These include the use of gas detection systems, mandatory safety equipment (such as breathing apparatus), and more detailed entry permits that ensure proper risk assessment and supervision.
Therefore, we found that it was time for some additional training for a large part of our staff from various disciplines. This training was focused on topics such as gas and oxygen measurement, confined space entry, lower explosion levels and risk assessments. Also, the training was concluded with an example of extracting a person from a tank container in the best - and safe - possible way.
Special thanks to John van Delzen for the valuable training and to Iwan De Block and Dimitri Verbakel of our partner Van Moer Logistics, an example of a company where safety as a whole is fully incorporated in training and best practices.
